in New York, San Francisco and Southern California.

Since 1986, she has headed Anita Halton Asssociates, a California-based literary publicity firm that provides personalized hands on public relations services to the publishing industry.

Prior to founding her own firm, Anita Halton honed her professional skills in New York, at Little Brown and Company, Charles Scribner's Sons, Macmillan Publishers, and Farrar, Straus & Giroux.

Authors she has worked with include Norman Mailer, Lillian Hellman, Christopher Isherwood, Susan Sontag, John McPhee, Thomas Moore, James Redfield Larry Dossey, M.D., and John Kabat-Zinn.
